Not much to see around Melo except maybe Posta del Chuy, which is about 12 km SE of Melo. This place is a house, a bridge and a toll gate built in the 19th century by the French. It was the only place along the main road from Uruguay to Brazil where you could cross safely. Now, you can see a lot of gaucho paintings and artefacts about its history there.
